►Bushard Street Sewer Update

OC Sanitation District has started work on an underground diversion structure on Bushard Street near Ellis Avenue that is expected to be completed this summer. In the meantime, day and some night work will require lane closures.

►Please Help Pendleton

Marines

When a young Marine and his family report for duty at Camp Pendleton, they are given a small, empty apartment. Often, these young families show up with just what will fit in their car. There have been times when these families have had to sleep on the floor.

Recognizing this problem, the Rotary Club of Camp Pendleton created The Warrior Warehouse. The club began collecting new and gently used furniture, cookware, household goods, baby clothing, other baby items, toys and diapers. Marine families are welcome to come by and take whatever they need to set up their apartments.

The FV Rotary has been assisting this effort for four years. Collection day will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 1 in the parking lot of The Center at Founders Village.

Donations are tax deductible. Contact Marla McGee at (714) 394-5856.

►Talbert STEAM-ing to Nationals Some exciting news at Talbert Middle School. After first competing against each other on campus, several teams of 8th grade STEAM students participated in the Southern California Invention Convention on March 23rd. More than 3,000 inventions were submitted throughout Southern California.

Two of the teams from Talbert received awards. The first team received a judges award and the second team received a grade level award. The second (Conner and Landon) were also chosen to move on to the National Invention Convention which will be held in Dearborn, Michigan in June.

In addition to qualifying for Nationals, Conner and Landon are in talks with the executive producers of Shark Tank which is SO awesome!!!

Talbert science teacher (Colleen Mc-Nally) is hoping to attend the convention with Conner and Landon, but they need help with the expenses. Donations can be made through Talbert Student Council. 9101 Brabham Drive, Huntington Beach, CA 92646.

There is a small picture of a fountain hidden among the pages of this magazine. First person to email a photo of them finding the fountain in this issue to publisher@ fvlm.com will win a $10 Starbucks card and may have their photo published in a future issue of Fountain Valley Living.

Sharolyn Pendleton found the fountain in April. Can you find it this month?
