Having a 'full house' at the Fountain Valley Community Foundation Charity Poker Tournament both in terms of attendance and, playfully, in poker terms, highlights the April 6 event's success and engagement from the community.

We offer a big congratulations to the champion of the tournament, Mike White! Winning the tournament on his first foray into a live poker game is an incredible achievement and surely made the experience unforgettable for him.

Stories like Mike's add a unique and memorable layer to this event, perhaps inspiring more first-time players to join in future tournaments.

Mike's win is a testament to the inclusive and fun nature of the event, showing that anyone can participate and even win, regardless of their prior experience with poker. It was quite the exciting moment when he was declared the winner.

Recognizing the contributions of volunteers and sponsoring businesses is crucial. Their dedication and support play a significant role in making events like the FV Community Foundation Charity Poker Tournament successful.

The commitment of volunteers who dedicate their time and energy to organize and run the event is invaluable. Additionally, the generosity of businesses that sponsor the event or donate prizes demonstrates their commitment to the community and their willingness to support local causes.

It's heartening to see such collaboration and collective effort to benefit Fountain Valley nonprofits. Their involvement truly makes a difference and enhances the impact of the event on the community.

Not only does this event bring people together for a fun activity but also significantly supports many local nonprofits in Fountain Valley, including the Boys and Girls Club, sports teams at FVHS and FV Little League, to name a few. Together we raised an impressive $25,000 in one night.

This was my 21st year as chairperson for this semi-annual tournament, and the cumulative impact of $750,000 over 21 years is undoubtedly transformative, offering vital funds to support various projects and services within the community.

Events like these highlight the power of community spirit and the difference collective efforts can make.
